Time to get

INN-volved

As the last pub in the beautiful village of Limpley Stoke, The Hop Pole Inn sadly closed its doors a few years ago. Thanks to your incredible support the building has been saved from the wrecking ball and acquired by the community – the first step in fulfilling its true potential to serve the many.

However, there is no time to rest on our laurels. After years of neglect, and due in no small part to the legacy of more than a century of deterioration to the structure, the Grade II listed building is in need of some TLC. Now we need your help to raise funds and assemble the teams it takes to reopen The Hop Pole Inn, creating a successful business that will reinvest surplus profits back into the community.

We can do this.

So now the question is: Are You Inn?

Community

Our aim is to help The Hop Pole Inn
reopen its doors to neighbours wanting to pop in for a pint and socialise. And by developing its broader appeal it will work for the wider community – from families with children, walkers, shoppers visiting nearby Bath: becoming somewhere for everyone.

Heritage

From its origins as an inn dating back to 1580 to its role in the movie The "Remains of the Day" with Sir Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, the Grade II listed building is packed with unique character and history.

“When I came to the village as a stranger 7 years ago it was the pub and its welcome which helped give me roots”

Future

With your help The Hop Pole Inn will reopen – not as a relic of a bygone era – but as a thriving hub that’s fit for 21st century village life. As a successful business and employer, as a unique venue for group events and activities, and as a place that can deliver local services. A place that’s open to new ideas.

More than 150 pubs across the country are now being run by their communities and we're excited to be part of that growing trend.

Share the love
